helicopter filming 2

PETA claims it will soon have “some impressive new weapons at its disposal to combat those who gun down deer… The group is shopping for one or more drone aircraft with which to monitor those who are out in the woods with death on their minds.”

This might make you mad if it were not so laughable. What a ridiculously impractical idea! How could they possibly fly their “one or more” little drones around and monitor 12 million deer hunters as we hit the woods from coast to coast to shoot a buck this fall?

One of the “drones” PETA claims it is looking at is actually a small, remote-controlled copter that costs around $13,000, plus video camera. Plus, you need to know what you’re doing to fly one of these things. I’ve watched very experienced cameramen, some of the best in the world, fly similar copters with cameras as they filmed aerial scenes for my hunting shows. The copters are tricky to take off and land…don’t fly well in the wind…have limited flight time (5 to 10 minutes). I’ve watched 2 different guys crash 3 of the little birds without getting any decent footage.

Total propaganda, but I actually encourage the antis to put their money where their big mouth is and buy 100 drones. Have your little do-gooders fan out across America this November and try to watch us hunt. After all your drones crash and burn you won’t have any footage, and you’ll be out a cool $1.5 million. That sounds good to me.
