The first shed report of 2016 is in from Kelly Kirsch, one of the best and most passionate antler hunters we have here on BIG DEER. Thanks Kelly and keep us posted w/future updates:
Mike: It has started in southeast SD. I watched this deer two weeks ago, he put his head down to feed and when he lifted it up again the antlers were gone! Went out the next afternoon so as to not spook the other bucks from the area, and here is what I found. A matched set is the way to start! They were picked 1-6-2016.
We have tons of snow cover here so it will be awhile before it’s worth the walking.–Kelly
Cool, everybody send me your shed reports!
Cool story. Love that picture. Last year I found a fresh one (with blood still on it) on Jan. 16th (I think). It was my goal to find one with blood on it, so that was cool. It was just a small shed, but still cool. Very little snow cover here in N. Indiana. Might be time to go start looking. Congrats Kelly.
