Trail Cam: Two Big Virginia Bucks!

2020-06-10T09:22:47-04:00August 6th, 2014|BigDeer, Deer Management|3 Comments

This image was posted on the Virginia Whitetails Facebook about 20 hours ago: Doug sent this trail cam pic of some great Cumberland County bucks. Love that high-tower rack, and the buck on the right is no slouch either. It was a good rack year here in the Old Dominion in 2013, and if these bucks are an indication, gonna be great again this year.

Trail Camera: B&C Buck is Back!

Update from the hunter that has this giant typical on his camera in the corn. The buck went missing for 2 weeks, but that is not unusual with big deer: "The Beast" (is back) happy to see him after two weeks. 62 days and I am hoping to see him in person...

Trail Cam: Bent Beam Buck

2020-06-10T09:22:48-04:00August 1st, 2014|BigDeer, Deer Management|4 Comments

One of our bloggers sent this image from somewhere in Wisconsin. This buck would be a cool sight to see coming through the woods in a few weeks when bow season opens. How do you think he bent that beam? From what I'm seeing it's setting up to be a good rack year, much better than last. And I have not heard of any massive EHD outbreaks as of yet, though now is the time when we really need to be on the lookout for that. Fingers crossed, should be a good fall! Are you getting ready?

Thanks to a hunter in the Midwest for sending this: “Shot this video last week it's shaky but still cool. Had trail pics of him last year; his drop has doubled in size and split this year. This is free-range deer.” NOTE: If the video does not appear above on your screen, watch it here.

Trail-Cam Monday: Big Buck is Back!

2020-06-10T09:22:48-04:00July 28th, 2014|BigDeer, Deer Management|5 Comments

A hunter from somewhere in the Midwest has this great buck on camera. Mike: We were calling him the Big 9 (his picture from 2013 below) but I think he needs a new name now. I'll take name suggestions from the BIG DEER bloggers. History is, the buck showed up in 2013 and appeared on only one camera 2 different days in late July--then we never saw him again. This year he's been on 2 cameras every couple days since June when we able to identify him (we run cameras year-around). Any guesses on potential score (and age) based on his pics from 2013 to this year? Again, what’s a good new name for this buck?
