BIG DEER friends and fans Zach and Ellie filed this field report:
Hey Mike, the sheds are dropping in Southern Illinois around DuQuoin and the fish are biting!
Awesome outdoor couple. Great bass Ellie! After this brutal winter, everybody needs to get outside and have some fun like this. The woods are fine this time of year.
Going to be while before open waters and bare ground. Some lakes have 2′ of Ice and we have a ton of snow on the ground. Still trying to kill some coyotes yet.
Great looking Bass!
Southern Indiana still has about 6″ 0f rotten ice around Batesville. People are finding sheds here, but a lot of them are chewed up pretty bad. I did get to hold a set of sheds from a buck that scored 185. It is a raised deer, but still an awesome amount of bone to see. Fishing…..With the ice rotten here, icefishing is a little iffy right now, but it is time for me to get out the grubs to try for one of my favorite eating fish…..the walleye! See-ya by the water
Still ice cold in N. Indiana. Still at least a foot of ice on all of our lakes up here. The Perch are starting to bite good in their pre-spawn mode. We still have total snow coverage up here as well. I have no doubts that there are sheds on the ground, but most will be covered by the white stuff yet. That is a great bass BTW.
Nice! That’s a whopper of a bass.
