A hunter from somewhere in the Midwest has this great buck on camera.
Mike: We were calling him the Big 9 (his picture from 2013 below) but I think he needs a new name now. I’ll take name suggestions from the BIG DEER bloggers.
History is, the buck showed up in 2013 and appeared on only one camera 2 different days in late July–then we never saw him again. This year he’s been on 2 cameras every couple days since June when we able to identify him (we run cameras year-around).
Any guesses on potential score (and age) based on his pics from 2013 to this year? Again, what’s a good new name for this buck?
Pick-axe
doesnt looks like same deer? call em what you like, dinner or lunch would be best
If he was the “big Nine” last year, he should be the big 9 this year. He looks to be 5 1/2 yrs or so to me, and as for scoring, I am assuming that his bases are pretty big. With that monster browtine he has, I am going to guess a little higher than the others at 141 5/5 gross. Nice buck and the best of luck to you this season in your hunt for him.
I would call him “Gone” because if he disappeared on you last year I would suspect the same thing will happen this year. Not always but we have deer on our hunting ground that do the same thing. He might only go a couple miles away but if it is off your hunting ground that is far enough. Keep your fingers crossed and hope he sticks around.
“Crazy-brow”, 130″ class, 4-5 yr old.
