Saw on Facebook where a hunter named Trevor found these big sheds one day last week in Iowa.
And John wrote to me and said: “(Antlers) already dropping in southern Wisconsin! Old massive broken off warrior!”
It’s getting to be shed-hunting time! Have bucks started dropping antlers in your area? Have you started looking yet? Here are some great shed-hunting pointers when you do start hunting for bone.
Send me pictures of any big sheds you find this spring, good luck.
They don’t come much fresher than the ones that Trevor found. Wow, that would be cool to walk up on a set with blood still on them.
The earliest shed antler that I know of being found around here was one my brother, Dan found on Christmas day several years back when we went rabbit hunting. He only found the one side, but that was a pretty nice bonus find that day. The latest I’ve seen bucks with full racks still intact was the second week of April. Shed season is similar to the rut curve to me. There are some early droppers, some late droppers, and then the majority of them that seem to shed in that late Jan. through Feb. and March timeframe.
