South Carolina: Krista’s 200-Pound Buck!

Still August and we have our first big deer on the ground! My hunting buddy Krista, who stared leukemia in the face and beat it, shot this bruiser the other night. When I saw him stroll out into the food plot in the fading light, I knew he was at least 5 years old. The guy who manages the plantation where we hunted has seen this buck for a few years, and figures he’s 6 or 7. Last year the deer’s rack had the same strong left side, and a lesser 4-point right side. This year his right side was just a huge spike, with a weird 3-inch kicker at the antler base. Injured or was that right side going [...]

Big Trail Cam Deer!

Two big ones from the Midwest. Nick says the first buck is living in a 2-acre patch in the suburbs. His right G-2 looks like a second brow tine, unique. This buck is one of the best I have seen so far, great frame, beams, tine length and mass. Shane has gotten this giant on cam for 3 years and figures he’s 4 ½. Good luck man!

Bowhunter’s Birthday Cake

This cake has been flying around Facebook and Twitter for a while now, and I think it's pretty cool. Only one issue: Arrow placement is a little far back (liver shot if you're lucky). The arrow should be moved left and down a few inches, tucked into the boiler room behind the front leg :)

Danny has been keeping us posted on a big 10-pointer roaming his hunting land. The latest: "Got over 500 pictures of deer this week on 2 cameras. The deer were very active. I got several more pics of the big 10. My wife decided to name him Spike. She thinks it’s funny for some reason. Ole’ Spike decided to make some daylight appearances. Hopefully he keeps that up. Sept 6th is our bow opener. Only 3 weeks! On a side note, I’m starting to notice a trend with my pictures. I’m actually getting more evening and morning pics the closer it gets to the full moon. And during the new moon I’m getting mostly night time pictures. This is the [...]

More Trail-Cam Bucks!

Love this chunky buck, look at the mass left side! From Nantucket MA. VA 8-pointer; the antler growth I’m seeing in the Old Dominion is impressive, it’s going to be a good year here. The last 2 bucks are on a farm I’ll be hunting in November. The split brow is cool, but he looks like a young buck.
