The 30-point non-typical monster that Shelton Earls, 72, shot in Franklin County last December has been scored three times, producing measurements from 222 to 228 inches.
“He’s something else, that’s for sure,” Earls told Bobby Cleveland of the Mississippi Sportsman. “He’s a buck of a lifetime… I’ve hunted a long time and I know I’ve never seen anything like him.”

Great buck Shelton! A true once in a lifetime monster. It just goew to show….any place at any time…….Congratulations!
As I’ve stated on the blog previously this year. You guys watch how many more bucks are entered into Boone and Crockett from MS this year compared to past years. It’s going to shatter the number of average entries. Don’t get me wrong it’s still no WI, KS, KY,IA, or IL but in it’s own right the state has come a long way in practicing QDM and it’s paying dividends this season.
Awesome buck anywhere in the world! Way to go Shelton! Super sweet, and if deserve has anything to do with it, you deserve it!
Mike this is an amazing buck considering the county in which he was harvested. I’ve hunted in Franklin county many times and I can tell you that this is an exceptional buck from anywhere but especially this specific area of the state. Most of the big bucks in MS come from the big black river basin or the counties that border the Mighty Mississippi River. Glad to see your site recognizing big southern bucks!
love Dixie giants!!
that is a awesome buck!
