Mike, I went hunting yesterday for the first time since 10/1/15. (Click and read The Fall: Must-Read for Tree Stand Hunters). Man did it ever feel good to be back out there! I promised my wife I’d never climb another tree without 100% safety measures put in place. I’m determined to shoot a good buck from a ground blind, or just hunting from the ground, this year. Here is a good buck we got a shot of a week ago. Good luck out there to you and all the bloggers.—Dean Weimer
Good luck Dean, rooting for you man! And everybody wear your harness and be careful out there.
Dan/Mike,
I just read your article and I have to say wow. I had an accident on Oct. 31, 2014. I was in a ladder stand and fell from there. So, I know the felling what you are going through. I am very luck to be walking again and walking this earth. My fall cause me not to be able to move my arms and legs for period of time. I was laid up for 6 months. I was always safe in use a harness when in a tree. But, one thing I never use was a lifeline to go up and down the ladder.
It happens so QUICK. I am glad to be back out hunting again too. But if I use a stand, I stay connect from the ground to the top. I also make my son do the same if he go into a stand.
God bless that GOD let me return to the wood to do what I LOVE to do.
Ed
Way to get back out there Dean. Best of luck to you for many seasons to come.
Dean I’m glad that you’re able to get out there this year buddy! I sure hope you can smoke a stud from the ground..that magical time is approaching. My buddy in Missouri shot a big 150″ 8 yesterday but was unable to find it. He said even with the crazy heat there is this year that the bucks are in the best pre-rut stage he’s seen in years and that they’re responding to horns like crazy which surprised him considering how hot it has been. Get after em and I hope to see your trophy story from this season soon Dean!
