Hello Mike: On opening weekend in San Saba County I shot the weirdest buck I have ever seen in the woods. To be honest, I didn’t realize what I had until I walked up to him after the 75 yard shot.
I found your article on stag bucks and was wondering if you have an idea how rare this type of buck is: 1 in a 1000 maybe? I have talked to lots of long-time hunters and none of them have seen one like him.—Thanks, Jonathan Sportel
Jon, there’s no way to put odds on it, but a stag–either one born that way or a buck that injured his testicles sometime in life—is extremely rare, perhaps rarer than 1 in 1,000. Your stag is a real trophy!
