Breaking: Giant Alabama Buck Killed By Truck

2020-06-10T09:17:00-04:00January 11th, 2016|BigDeer|2 Comments

Deer and Deer Hunting reports that this incredible buck—look at that mass and palmation!—was hit in Walker County (north of Birmingham) the other evening by a fellow named Bryan Diehl, who was the punter on the University of Alabama’s 1992 national championship football team. What that means for tonight’s college football title game, I don’t know. The rut is just getting kicking down in Alabama, so this big boy was undoubtedly dogging a doe across the highway when he met his demise. Word is that official scorers will put a tape to this great rack soon, and DDH will let us know the score asap.

Texas: Rove’s Quail Crew Nabs 2 Illegals

2020-06-10T09:17:00-04:00January 8th, 2016|BigDeer|4 Comments

With deer season winding down, the bird hunting is just getting good down in South Texas, but these quail hunters got more than they bargained for. According to the Daily Caller, “Former adviser to George W. Bush and campaign strategist Karl Rove went quail hunting in Texas over his Christmas vacation and ended up discovering two illegal immigrants.” Story says that the illegals, dressed in black ominous clothing, were in pretty bad shape health-wise. Knowing they couldn’t hide forever from the hunters and their dogs, they eventually gave up and were apprehended by Border Patrol. This is not an isolated incident, as landowners, ranchers and hunters have been dealing with this for years in South Texas. While I have never encountered any illegals [...]

2020-06-10T09:17:00-04:00January 7th, 2016|Big Deer Stories, Big Deer TV, BigDeer|Comments Off on Big Georgia Buck: Hailey Green’s 175″ Giant

Today’s guest blog is from Georgia hunter Hailey Green, who shot this beautiful 175-class 12-pointer last October. This young lady not only loves to hunt deer, but she also cherishes the opportunity to hunt with family and enjoy the land and all of God’s wonderful creations. It doesn’t get any better than that. Great story and proud of you Hailey! On October 21, 2014 my brother, Hunter, and I went hunting for the first time by ourselves. Not too long into the hunt, a 10-point buck stepped out into the food plot, but he lay down before I could get a shot. At one point I yelled at him but he wouldn’t stand up. I did almost everything I could [...]

These days you never know how you’ll get pictures and info on BIG DEER shot by hunters. I was tagged in this post on Instagram by Whitetailcommunityscrape: One of my followers, Brandon Duncan, sent this. He and his buddy have been watching this deer for a few years and have been hoping and praying that it makes it through the (hunting seasons). Finally this season Brandon got his chance and got him… And guess what public land. Word is that Brandon's buck scores 190-200 inches non-typical.

Sportsman’s Group To Oregon Occupiers: “End This Fool’s Errand”

2020-06-10T09:17:00-04:00January 5th, 2016|BigDeer|1 Comment

Press release today: MISSOULA, Mont. - The sportsmen's group Backcountry Hunters & Anglers urged cool, patient heads to prevail in the extremists' occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, valuable public lands fish and wildlife habitat located in Oregon. "National wildlife refuges like Malheur are a treasure shared by all Americans," stated BHA President and CEO Land Tawney. "The actions being perpetrated by extremists in Oregon are the misguided actions of a fringe element - and should be condemned by sportsmen and all citizens in the strongest terms." Oregon sportsmen were quick to decry the extremists' actions. "As sportsmen and conservationists, we urge the occupiers to end this fool's errand," said Brian Jennings, BHA's Oregon outreach coordinator, "and we urge [...]
