Hunters Locked Out Of Federal Lands

Right now, with deer seasons heating up across the country, the federal government has issued directives to close accessible public lands while the government is shut down. At stake are millions of acres of public land administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service and the like. According to the United States Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) these agencies are being told to close access to their lands because of the standoff taking place over funding the federal government. “These lands are generally accessible to the public without special entrance fees, passage through gates, or access via controlled roads or waterways,” said Nick Pinizzotto, USSA President and CEO. “Not only are these closures unnecessary, they run contrary to law. Minn. Hunter Shoots Big-Nose Doe

Mike: I think I may have another candidate for your big nose deer collection. I took this doe in Duluth, Minnesota. It looks a lot like those other deer with the big muzzles, but not as severe. I still have the head and am wondering if I should get in contact with Kevin Keel, the wildlife pathologist at the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study in Athens, Georgia. MONSTER ALERT! This is my dream buck, the drop tine is one thing but check out that club! Joe at America’s Best Bowstrings says that a friend of theirs, Buck Owen, shot the giant that he’s been hunting for a couple years. It's supposed to an amazing story of hard work, dedication and perseverance for this free-range monster. We have reached out to Buck, and hope to tell his story soon.

All-New BIG DEER TV Tonight!

I hope you can catch this new episode tonight at 8 and 11 PM ET on Sportsman Channel (or set your DVR). It is actually very rare to hunt somewhere for 4 days and hit the rut right, I mean just right.
