Saskatchewan 3-Beamed Buck!

2020-06-10T09:23:20-04:00November 27th, 2013|Big Deer Stories, BigDeer|3 Comments

My friend Grant Kuypers of Buck Paradise guides American hunters to some amazing bucks each year…and this season he even got to hunt a day himself. Grant and his son Ian had been getting trail cam pictures of this unique deer living tight behind their house. Grant’s land is in the farmland area of Saskatchewan, miles south of the Northern Provincial Forest where I and other Americans must hunt. Only the locals can hunt the farmland. Grant showed me this cam picture when I was up there 10 days ago and said, “I really want Ian to get this buck.” Well, Ian was out of town one day two weeks ago when this giant showed back up. Grant called Ian [...]

Central Arkansas Non-Typical Buck!

2020-06-10T09:23:20-04:00November 25th, 2013|Big Deer Stories, BigDeer|3 Comments

Hey Mike, Huge fan of the show and site.  This buck is about as good as it gets here at home (in central Arkansas).  This buck was taken by the father of a friend of mine.  The pic has been posted on some hunting sites here in Arkansas and was killed just about 3-4 short miles down the highway from my house.  Thanks and keep doing what you do! --Ca'Lyn Zachary This is one of the coolest bucks I’ve seen this year, love those junked-up beams, thanks for sharing!

200-Inch Double-Drop Buck!

2020-06-10T09:23:20-04:00November 23rd, 2013|BigDeer|6 Comments

One of our BIG DEER bloggers is hunting this buck. I am happily sworn to secrecy as to name and location…until he or she hopefully gets him: Mike: I've been wanting to share these pictures for months.  I know you'll love this buck, as it's a double drop. He has a typical 7x7 frame. As far as I can tell, he's got a 31-point rack that will gross 218".  I've had him several times with marginal shot opportunities but have not been able to seal the deal. I’ll keep you posted. Good luck to this hunter, this is the best deer I’ve seen this year. My dream buck, to shoot a deer like that would make my hunting life complete. P.S.- Good [...]

Thieves in the Deer Woods?

2020-06-10T09:23:20-04:00November 22nd, 2013|BigDeer|21 Comments

I have been reading some troubling accounts of hunters having stuff stolen: trail cameras (the number one target of thieves)…tree stands and stick ladders…even a deer decoy. One guy wrote that on his own farm he has always left binoculars, bow holder, camo and other gear in one of his favorite ground blinds not far from his house. The other day he went back to his blind and found—no blind and no gear, somebody had stolen it all! Another guy reported that all the memory cards from his 5 cams had been stolen—the thief left the cams, but went in and took the cards. Scary the criminal knew where the 5 cameras were scattered across the woods. He must have [...]
