BIG DEER’s Best Lady Hunter!

From this profile I wrote for realtree.com a few years ago: Lisa Brunner is one of the best big-buck huntresses in America. I first became acquainted with this lady in 2006, back when I was blogging for Outdoor Life. Out of the blue her husband, Jeff, sent me an email that read: “My wife Lisa shot this buck on the gun opener in Wisconsin. He scored 185 gross and 179 5/8 net; a 6x6 with one sticker. Danny’s had his cams out for 2 weeks and says: “Got a couple decent bucks. Hopefully the big 10 hangs around for a few more months.” (I hope so too, that’s a good deer, great brows, with quite a bit more growing to do. Will be fun to track this buck and see if Danny gets him.) “The biggest surprise was the bear. We had heard rumors there was one running around, but didn’t really believe it. We believe it now!”

Missouri Drop-Tine Monster Buck!

Mike: I read your blog and see your obsession with drop tine bucks. Just wanted to drop a line and show you the buck I killed last year on my place in central Missouri. This is the first and only drop tine I have ever seen. And to think my buddy missed him 2 years ago at 22 yards with a bow. This buck had 20+ points and NO drops when he missed it. The next year it dropped 2 drop tines, including a 12.5" split-drop with velvet still hanging on it. Amazing deer and fun to hunt. Kentucky Giant Buck, 226 Inches!

Dustin Finley tells me his dad, Larry, killed this deer in Pendleton Co, KY on 11-11-12; they measured him at 226 7/8. That is one of the best-looking racks I’ve seen from last season, beautiful color and all those stickers! We’re trying to get the full story.
