Email to an Anti-Hunter

I got an email from Steven, who had gone back through the Big Deer Blog archives and pictures and come to this conclusion: You try to make hunting out to be some great and honorable thing, but there is nothing great or honorable about what you do. Hunting is a joke unless you need the meat to survive. (Note: I paraphrase and clean up some of his language.) Big Deer TV Tonight on Sportsman Channel

Season 2 kicks off tonight at 8 and 11 PM Eastern Time. Set your DVR and watch as I hunt for this 29-inch wide muley buck (I knew he was good, but not that wide). One lesson to take away from this episode: It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been hunting, a shooting opportunity can go south in a hurry. Stay as calm as you can, keep your wits and react, or big deer will get away from you in seconds. You’ll see what I mean. Missouri Drop-Tine Monster Buck!

Mike: I read your blog and see your obsession with drop tine bucks. Just wanted to drop a line and show you the buck I killed last year on my place in central Missouri. This is the first and only drop tine I have ever seen. And to think my buddy missed him 2 years ago at 22 yards with a bow. This buck had 20+ points and NO drops when he missed it. The next year it dropped 2 drop tines, including a 12.5" split-drop with velvet still hanging on it. Amazing deer and fun to hunt.
